The Highwayman Run

17th Sept 2017

“One of the toughest and most inspiring run routes you’ll find on the calendar!”

2017 Event Cancelled

With regret, due to loss of sponsorship, the 2017 Henley Highwayman will not now go ahead. If you have already entered, you will have already been sent an email outlining your options.

The Run concludes the epic Highwayman weekend, and it’s a fittingly tough finale! Forget everything you think you know about the run section of a standard duathlon or tri, the Highwayman is taking to the hills again, and you’ll need to work to keep up! Starting once again from the town hall with a closed road lead out to the event base at Swiss Farm, the route takes you off road and climbs the track high onto No Man’s Hill, where the highwaymen used to look down on the river, watched the boats coming into Henley and planned their audacious robberies.

From here the route drops back to the road to for a short respite before climbing back to the pick point on No Man’s Hill from the other side, then down to the Fairmile to conclude the circuit. Distance options here are 9, 17 and 25km, with mid distance participants repeating the No Man’s hill loop twice (four climbs), and full distance repeating it three times (six climbs). With the off road elements and a daunting 180 metres of climbing per lap, this adds up to truly big finish to the Highwayman!

Short Course

5km Run Event

The Highwayman is an event for everyone! The new 5km route option opens this amazing run up to all comers! Just reach for those trainers and take on the challenge! The 5km route shares the same closed road start from the Market Square with all the other distances, and carries you up onto the most scenic part of the course overlooking the town and the river. At the feed station on top of the hill, you’ll leave the longer distance runners and drop down onto the Fairmile to return to the finish line and complete Henley’s newest and best 5k run!

Part of the Highwayman Duathlon

duathlon-iconAs with the Bike event, you can enter the run on it’s own or as part of the two day Highwayman Duathlon. If you are taking part in the full weekend duathlon, your run time will fall into one of nine scoring bands to complete your points total for the weekend. This is where every second counts though; at the end of the day, you will probably find yourself somewhere in the overall finishers list, tied on points with several other competitors. Where two people have the same points total, the fastest run time will decide who gets the highest placing overall, so you can’t let up until you cross that final finish line!
